Many thanks to all who came out for the afternoon opening of BEST DRESSED. We had a really nice turnout and it’s always great to see the MFA students and their work on main campus.
Pictured above is artwork from the show, created by comics artist and second-year grad student Jacklyn Kim. BEST DRESSED is a group illustration show inspired by the history of fashion and costume design. Artists’ takes on the subject matter range from the frivolous and campy to provocative and critical.
Jacklyn says of her pieces:
“These works invite discussion about the sources of most fashion products, specifically those considered “high-end.” Animal abuse and child labor have been issues in the fashion industry for a long time, but it doesn’t seem like practices have changed much in recent decades. These issues may not always be openly noticeable, and more often remain invisible and insidious. For this show, I explored the dark reality of fashion production.”
BEST DRESSED is up through February 14.
